Why Italy’s commercial office market is one of the most exciting in Europe

Earlier this year, country head Maria Luisa Daglia joined the Agilité Solutions team, to drive forward the Italian division of the business. Having spent more than 10 years working in the construction sector on a pan-European level, Maria Luisa has extensive experience of delivering complex design and build projects, as well as commercial fit-outs.

In this blog, she tells us the reasons why many companies are choosing to relocate to, or complement their existing portfolio, with a base in one of Italy’s many vibrant cities.

Although the recent pandemic has caused disruption to the European commercial property market, Italy remains an attractive prospect for developers, retailers and investors as the industry begins to recover.

Ordinarily a hotspot for many high-profile events – and having being named as the host of the 2026 Winter Olympics – the incentives and reasons for continued economic growth are plain to see. Our Italian office is based in Milan, and we’re observing more and more brands seeking a strong European presence every day.

With Italy’s commercial office market set to boom over the next few years, we’re excited to already be working on a range of fit-out and design and build projects across a variety of sectors, from transforming old or underutilised commercial spaces – which need restoring to their former glory – to injecting design inspiration into as-yet blank spaces.

When planning and executing a project, we always make sure we restore or re-design in a way that is sympathetic to the location, to ensure consistency. And, when thinking of Italian office design, we picture understated furniture, strong lines, and an overall focus on simplicity and considered space-planning.

Many of the current Italian office design trends adopt the concept of minimalism whilst integrating the elegant – and often understated – beauty of high-class fittings and fixtures, without compromising on design and aesthetics.

As the Italian office market begins to thrive once more, we plan to nurture our relationships with existing connections – identifying new opportunities for clients to expand, relocate or remodel their spaces throughout the country – while strengthening our own supply chain by extending the team’s network of local associates.

Agilité has already completed work for clients throughout France, the UK, Luxembourg, Belgium and Switzerland, and you can find out more about more about our recent projects here.
