On July 4th, Agilité UK country head Daniel Hunt joined key figures from the UK real estate sector for a discussion around ‘retrofitting for the future’ hosted by BisNow, and held at London’s Building 7.
As ambitious net zero targets continue to loom large, the urgency to decarbonise real estate is apparent. An estimated 80% of the building stock that will be here in 2050 already exists, calling for governments and real estate players to significantly step up retrofitting efforts. However, some brands still face a lack of established best practices and even more complicated sets of regulations.
With that in mind, BisNow gathered leaders from across the sector to debate the opportunities and challenges of investing and constructing retrofitted schemes, while exploring the responsibility and sustainability benefits of doing so as well as best practices for projects moving forwards.
Taking part in a panel discussion titled ‘energising change: a retrofit revolution’ led by moderator Ben Redding (senior associate, Clifford Chance), Daniel joined John Davies (head of sustainability, Derwent London plc), Ross Sayers (head of development management, Landsec), Sophie Goddard (director of sustainability, Canary Wharf Group) and Andrew Davidson (partner, Studio PDP) for the insightful session.
“It was a really informative event, and there was so much the Agilité London team took away from it – not only the panel I was a part of, but the presentations and panels throughout the morning. It was a delight to have a closer look at Building 7 too, and meet some of the influential people that join the BisNow seminars.” – Daniel Hunt, UK country head.
Attended by our peers from the UK commercial property sector, the conversation gave the audience a deeper insight into the UK’s construction and fit-out sector as well as Agilité’s commitments to responsible construction and our credentials as a certified B Corp.
