In the Gen Z/Instagram era, offices have been transformed as more and more space is allocated to areas which encourage colleagues to share ideas and socialise — as opposed to purely operational functions. In turn, this is giving rise to an office model which is open to creativity and interaction – prompted in part by the co-working revolution.

From being all-but-empty immediately after the pandemic, and then ‘the great downsizing’, now businesses are looking to create more enticing workplaces in a bid to encourage staff to venture into HQ – and attract new colleagues, too.

We gathered a mix of industry leaders, including an architect, cost planner and MEP specialist, to explore the challenges and opportunities facing the office fit-out and construction sector today – including trends in workplace design, material selection and ESG, as well as the pressures on all stakeholders concerning cost.
