At Agilité, the commitment to fostering the next generation of construction professionals is an important part of our ethos. By combining hands-on learning opportunities with a strong emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, we strive to create an environment where bright and bold emerging talent can thrive – and hopefully, in time, lead and uplift our industry.
Two recent interns at Agilité Italy, Davide Sirtori and Soheil Hajibagher Najjar, exemplify the benefits of investing in young talent with the fantastic contributions and fresh approach they have brought to the our team over the past three months.
Davide, a civil engineering student at Politecnico di Milano, joined Agilité to broaden his understanding of the industry. Motivated by curiosity and a desire to engage with real-world applications beyond the academic environment, he quickly immersed himself in the financial aspects of construction management. Davide later regarded his sense of inclusion as a standout feature of his experience. It was great to hear Davide reflect on how our supportive culture not only makes him feel valued, but further reinforces his decision to pursue a career in project management.
Similarly, Soheil, a master’s student in Management of Built Environment at Politecnico di Milano, sought practical experience to complement his academic knowledge. Originally from Iran, Soheil embraced the opportunity to work in an international setting, tackling diverse responsibilities that included quantity surveying, site inspections and cost planning. His role provided an expansive view of the project lifecycle while also teaching him adaptability and problem-solving in dynamic situations.
Both interns fitted right into Agilité’s collaborative environment, where mentorship and teamwork between colleagues is pivotal. Soheil expressed particular appreciation for the guidance received from his peers, who shared technical expertise and demonstrated the importance of professionalism, self-management and resilience. Davide, in turn, highlighted the value of strong workplace relationships, a lesson he hopes will enhance his ability to extract the maximum out of future roles.
Both Davide and Soheil quickly got on board with Agilité's commitment to responsible construction, emphasised by our B Corp certification. It was fantastic to see this forward-thinking approach resonate strongly with them – reinforcing the importance of aligning professional goals with broader environmental and social responsibilities. As Soheil noted, Agilité’s focus on sustainability reflects a tangible response to the pressing challenges facing the industry, making it an appealing and meaningful workplace for emerging professionals.
We hope their time at Agilité has not only prepared Davide and Soheil for the next stages of their careers but also given them a deep understanding of the values that will help drive the construction industry forward in the longer term. A blend of technical skill development, cultural inclusivity and a strong commitment to ESG principles have provided a foundation that extends beyond their immediate roles, equipping them to navigate and contribute to a rapidly evolving sector.
Agilité’s internship programme exemplifies our mission to invest in talent while fostering a culture of responsibility and innovation. By providing opportunities that are challenging but supportive, we hope to shape the careers of future leaders who are well-prepared to meet the demands of an increasingly complex and sustainability-focused industry.
The experiences of Davide and Soheil stand as a testament to the power of this approach and the talent and dedication of young people across Europe. We’ll be opening applications for our 2025 internship programme in the new year – so watch this space.
