Overseeing the project, retail giant, Lids — which is partly owned by Fanatics — turned to Agilité to help bring to life the first official National Basketball Association (NBA) store in Germany.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Fanatics, is a global leader in licensed sports merchandise.
The state-of-the-art NBA store – located in Potsdamer Platz, a brand-new urban epicentre, home to 90 stores, in the heart of Berlin’s dynamic shopping community – is open for business following a 16-week fit-out programme.
Joining forces with the esteemed design and architecture firm, Gensler, the Agilité team worked on the blank canvas – using bespoke fixtures and fittings designed to showcase the NBA, its history, and current teams.
The 1,100 m2 space was required to house an extensive range of official NBA and WNBA merchandise and memorabilia, as well as a customisation area, an entertainment wall complete with 16 wide-screen televisions, a basketball hoop built-In neon, and a full-size basketball court outline across the shop floor.
The sizeable shop floor is operated by retail giant Lids, which is partly owned by Fanatics, and builds on Lids’ physical retail expertise to provide fans with an authentic NBA shopping experience.
Having successfully completed NBA stores in London and Paris, the Agilité team was experienced in the intricacies of a retail delivery for the US sports brand.
Collaborating with a team of sub-contractors and suppliers — while maintaining regular communication with the overseas client — the project was delivered on time, and to an impeccable standard.
Thanks to accurate planning and strong communication lines throughout, the team was able to round off the project with a smooth, stress-free handover — delivered within the agreed timeframe and to specification.
