Aurel BGC provides brokerage services in financial markets for institutional and corporate clients across the world. Its Milan office needed to be designed with colleagues in mind while creating an inspiring location in which to meet clients.

Plan

Located on the first floor of a historic building, the office space was to be divided into two areas – the first being an operational hub for most of the employees, and the second housing meeting rooms and service areas.

The layout needed to accommodate 26 workstations – divided between one large, open office, and a pair of smaller, closed spaces – as well as a communal break area and further boardroom.

Align

The project wasn’t without challenges though, as its location in a very old part of the city meant there was one road in/out, with very limited access – which called for meticulous logistics planning.

What’s more, given the space was inside an occupied building, construction work had to pose minimal disruption to the other organisations within the site, meaning careful behavioural and site management was important.

Communicate

Central to the success of the project was establishing a good working relationship with the architect. What’s more, Agilité supported the client’s design team with execution drawings and technical solutions – as a result the partnership was incredibly supportive on all parts, and each entity could proactively support each other.

Agilité’s knowledge of similar builds meant the team were able to problem-solve throughout the delivery – often due to third-party challenges. The true collaboration throughout the supply chain meant the project was delivered on time – with no deviation from the agreed schedule or budget.

Execute

Under the scope of works, Agilité handled all architectural works – leading on new finishes, particularly in terms of carpets, curtains, wallpapers, vinyl flooring, glazing, as well as custom-made furnishings, lamps and acoustic suspension elements.

While the space was last refurbished in 2021, Agilité carried out some plant engineering works too, making changes to the existing electrical system by integrating the smoke detection, electrical and lighting parts, as well as soft modifications of the mechanical system.

The true collaboration throughout the supply chain meant the project was delivered on time – with no deviation from the agreed schedule or budget.
